Dog Training: Teach Your Dog to Shut Doors Part 1 Clicker

Added on Dec 5, 2008 From Donna Hill

Follow this step by step training video to teach your dog to shut doors using shaping and clicker or verbal marker training. It's easy and fun for you both! Almost any dog can do it! This video (part 1& 2 combined) was a finalist in the Canis Film Festival 2009! http://www.canisfilmfestival.com/submissions.html

Jessie took about 30 minutes of actual training time to learn the basics to the end of Part 1, then additional training (see Part 2) to add the cue, fade the clicker and treats, add distance and generalize. We use positive training and operant conditioning.

Aug 29, 2016 - I'm training my dog to be a seeing eye mobility and seizure assistant. I'm having a few behavior problems that I hope you could help me with such as at times hitting a leash when were 2 steps from coming inside after a walk, barking if someone induces play in a store or if another dog barks in a restaurant one bark . Sometimes he won't heal if another dog is running towards me he trying to pull me backwards sometimes forward almost tripping me at home. The chasing of the cat at times plus eating cat food every now and then

Nov 22, 2013 - Here'a good shaping activity for your dog.
Dog Training: Teach Your Dog to Shut Doors Part 1 Clicker

Donna Hill Says:

Apr 29, 2013 - It depends on the dog: how fast of a learner, how experienced the dog is at being shaped, how confident the dog is, training history etc. A dog that is experience with shaping will catch on quickly while a dog with no background will take many short training sessions. Some dogs start slow and need the task to be broken into tiny bits while others go fast. Jessie took about twice as long as Lucy to lean this as she is less confident and less creative dog overall.

Amanda Chavez Says:

Apr 29, 2013 - should I go though the steps on separate days? or will the dog normally get the hang of it in one day?
